African villages

As art director and photographer for Balafon, Air Afrique's in-flight magazine, Pierre has had the opportunity to work in a number of African countries. In his travels, he had the chance to see some of the masterpieces of traditional architecture in West Africa. He was amazed by the beauty and artistic value of certain habitats and fascinated by the dexterity of the artist-decorators.

Some of these villages are extremely fragile, given the traditional method of construction, often in earth and having as structure wood or stone. These houses are unfortunately confronted with problems of preservation after each bad weather.

The maintenance of these houses is carried out mainly by women. There are about fifteen villages to preserve.
